CenturyMart is planning to close the outlet in Shaoxing after sales failed to offset costs amid fierce competition, three years after it shutdown its stores in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province. The supermarket chain, which had about 5,000 outlets at the end of 2009, had been expanding rapidly nationwide since its establishment in Shanghai in 1991.
