After years of dedicated service to Lankapuvath National News Agency, DilshanAloka Sri Wijegunasekera has - after much consideration - decided to resign his position as acting chief executive officer (CEO) in pursuit of new challenges. It is the end of the road for a long and successful journey and the start of a new chapter for his professional career.
During his time as editor-in-chief, Wijegunasekera managed to steer the National News Agency of Sri Lanka through international frontiers and boundaries to secure a permanent position in the global media industry, expanding its network of over thirty-countries worldwide via active links with Agence France-Presse (AFP), AsiaNet Pakistan, China Daily, Factiva Dow Jones & Company, New Delhi Television Ltd. (NDTV), Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), Sputnik News Agency, and Yonhap News Agency.
Due largely to his efforts, Lankapuvath National News Agencyhas been selected as an Official Press Partner of the International Convention on the Cessation of War in October 2015?. Wijegunasekera is honoured with the appointment of Publicity Ambassador for the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), a Seoul-based international peace organization in association with the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI).
