PHNOM PENH - Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida will pay an official visit to Cambodia from June 29 to July 1, when the two countries will ink grant and loan deals worth 143 million US dollars, a news statement from the Cambodian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

During his visit, Kishida will hold bilateral talks with his Cambodian counterpart Hor Namhong and the two ministers will sign grant aid and concessional loan agreements under the presence of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, the statement said.

The deals will include a grant of 8.3 million US dollars for Cambodian education sector and a soft loan of 135 million US dollars for electricity grid development, road improvement project, and irrigation and drainage rehabilitation project in Cambodia, it added.

According to the schedule, Kishida and Hun Sen will preside over the inauguration ceremony of an AEON Mall in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. The Japanese-invested shopping mall is currently Cambodia's largest modern market, which is reportedly built at a cost of 205 million US dollars.

During his stay, Kishida will also pay a courtesy call on Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.
