The 30-year-old player will undergo a medical in Shanghai on Sunday.
It was reported that he inked a three-year deal to move from Turkey first division league club Besiktas.
Ba also played in German Bundesliga's Hoffenheim and became well known as he played for Chelsea from 2013 to 2014, when he score seven goals in 27 appearances in the English Premier League.
"Demba Ba will boost our strength in the front line and help us realize our goal this season," said Greenland in the statement.
