Xiamen's Siming district emerges as green development leader

On June 27, Siming district in Xiamen held a press briefing on environmental protection, highlighting achievements in ecological environment construction and protection over the past year.
In 2023, the district achieved a 100 percent rate of excellent air quality, the highest in Xiamen. Multiple reservoirs and 10 small water bodies also reached a 100 percent compliance rate.
The proportion of near shore sea areas with water quality better than Class I and II reached 100 percent, and all eight coastal bathing beaches maintained a 100 percent rate of excellent water quality. No environmental safety incidents occurred.
Public satisfaction with the ecological environment in Siming district also ranked first in Xiamen.
Nationally, the southeastern sea area, Yundang Lake, and Gulangyu Island were recognized as an exemplary "Beautiful Bay", "Beautiful River or Lake", and "Harmonious and Beautiful Island", respectively.
Throughout the past year, Siming district has advanced pollution prevention through four key projects: blue skies, clear waters, sea, and land, leading to ongoing urban ecological improvements.
Meanwhile, Siming district has encouraged enterprises to implement technological upgrades to conserve energy, reduce emissions, and boost green development.
In 2023, the district carried out the application process for municipal-level industrial enterprise technological transformation project awards, successfully awarding a total of nine million yuan ($1.24 million) to five projects.
Next, Siming district will deepen its ecological civilization efforts, focusing on building a high-quality urban area and better preventing pollution.
