Jie Fang Bei Rd, Financial St

Located close to Haihe River between Jie Fang Bridge and Jie Fang Nan Rd, the Financial St used to be the major location area for numerous foreign banks and was thus titled the “Wall St in the East”. Currently it still functions as a base of various financial institutions in Tianjin. The majority of the architecture on the street has over a one hundred year history. People can feel the great development of China’s financial industry in the modern history just by walking a long the street.

Wudadao

Situated abreast, five streets of Ma Chang Rd, Mu Nan Rd, Da Li Rd, Chang De Rd, and Chong Qing Rd, have all contributed to the name of Wudadao, which means five major streets in English. With approximately 2,000 various styles villas, Wudadao has been widely known as an international architecture exposition.

In addition, more than 300 late residences of historical figures are located in the area of Wudadao. Those figures include former Olympic champion Li Airui, late president of the United States Herbert Clark Hoover, and former U.S. Secretary of State George Marshall as well as two presidents of the Republic of China and seven Prime Ministers and acting Prime Ministers.

The Astor Hotel

Founded in 1863, The Astor Hotel is the first in China to open business toward foreign customers including Sun Yat-sen, Zhang Xueliang, Cai E as well as the 31st president of the United States Herbert Clark Hoover and the 1st Japanese Prime Minister Itō Hirobumi.

Jiefang Bridge

Jiefang Bridge used to be called Wanguo Bridge, except it was built in 1927 across Haihe River. The drawbridge can open and close. It stands at 96.7 meters long, 5.5 meters high, and 19.5 meters wide.

Wanghailou Church

Wanghailou Church

Our Lady of Victory Church is the predecessor of Wanghailou Church. It was built by the French Catholic Church in 1869. Imitating the Notre Dame de Paris, Wanghailou Church has a brick and wooden structure and gothic architectural style with 3 towers including a middle belfry at the front.

In 1985, the church was under reconstruction and refurbishment funded by the government of Tianjin and was open on December 8 in the same year. It was also listed as one of the national key cultural relics protection units in 1988.
