Comment on "Better teachers could stem students exodus" (China Daily, March 29)
The article reflects my feelings. Even though I have come to terms with the poor teaching quality in my college, I cannot help express dissatisfaction with the pell-mell course arrangement and "under-qualified" teachers.
One of my teachers has complained that before she returned from abroad recently, she got an e-mail from the deputy dean asking her to prepare for a new course within a short time. She says that it's very difficult to open a new course without adequate preparation.
Given the hastily opened courses and under-qualified teachers, it's no wonder that quite a few students tend to skip classes.
Almost all students and some faculty members are unhappy with the unreasonable teaching arrangements in the college.
The authorities have to recruit qualified teachers for all subjects and strengthen the faculty for the benefit of the students as well as the college.
