Qingdao citizens experienced a Spring Festival suffused with traditional Chinese cultural activities this year.
During the Spring Festival holiday, Qingdao Municipal Museum held activities such as handicraft classes that were attended by more than 200 children every day. They created traditional clay sculptures and Spring Festival drawings of cartoon figures under the guidance of museum staff.
Qingdao Library received nearly 6,000 visitors from Feb 10 to 13. Many citizens attended a lantern riddle guessing activity in the hall, and others enjoyed the tranquil afternoons in the reading rooms upstairs. Activities such as parties, concerts and award-winning contests brought joy to many children.
Bookstores in Qingdao saw more customers this Spring Festival than in the past. "Parents came to buy books as gifts for their children and more students chose to spend their lucky money on books," said Li Wen, a staff member at a bookstore in Qingdao.
