Shangrao promotes contemporary art

In December 2011, the management committee of Sanqing Mountain, a world natural heritage in Shangrao, Jiangxi province, joined hands with Beijing 798 Art Gallery to launch a series of activities promoting the contemporary art of Sanqing Mountain under the theme 'Mountains Beyond Mountains'.

Sanqing Mountain is the first world natural heritage in Jiangxi province. In addition to unique natural landscapes, the mountain is home to 1,600 year old Taoism culture. The scenic spot maintains a large number of ancient Taoism architectures and cultural relics, and is reputed as an open-air museum of ancient Chinese Taoism architecture.

Liu Shuzong, secretary of the Party committee of Sanqing Mountain scenic spot, said “We attach much importance to resource protection as well as economic development. We graft in the cultural industry to realize strategic transformation of Sanqing Mountain, and cultivate a cultural Sanqing Mountain to promote leap-forward development of the Chinese tourism industry.”

The management committee will hold a series of contemporary art activities to showcase the diverse forms of contemporary art, and interpret and promote the history, culture and natural landscapes of Sanqing Mountain in multiple aspects, so as to promote the tourism culture of Sanqing Mountain.
