The emerging home delivery service industry is enjoying rapid development in the city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province.
As winter comes, the demand for home delivery service is increasingly growing as people prefer staying at home to going out. Various customer-tailored services can be home-delivered including takeout, pick-up, house cleaning, massage, beauty care, car washes and tutoring services.
"edaixi", a former laundry in Beijing now offering home delivery service, extended its business to Wuxi city in April, 2015. Its convenient one-stop service is available through its APP or WeChat platform. After receiving your order online and determining the price, the staff will come to your house to collect the clothes or shoes that need washing. Customers can pay through their phones and watch the whole washing process on the phone. All the clothes and shoes are returned within 72 hours.
"We have also cooperated with insurance companies," said Ms. Liu, head of "edaixi" in Wuxi. "Customers can ask for claims from the insurance company if their clothes are damaged." Liu said that they once received close to 800 orders in a single day.

The success of "edaixi" creates jobs. Many people that run errands for the company like getting or returning customers' clothes appreciate the part-time work. Some people have opened their own online laundry shops on the platform without buying laundry equipment. The more customers they attract, the higher commissions they get from the company.
Wang Yuhong, deputy dean of the Business College of Jiangnan University, regards home delivery service as an emerging economic industry that facilitates employment. "The norms and standards of this sector, however, ought to be formulated as soon as possible," said Wang, adding, "the start-ups should carefully focus on service procedure, including its innovation and personalized design, before stepping up into the business."
The former Wuxi New District, now known as Wuxi Xinwu district or Wuxi National Hi-tech district, was founded in 1992 and underwent administrative changes in 1995, 2002 and 2005.
