The Wuxi government recently published a Chinese-English book to introduce the city vividly to foreigners with ten Chinese characters, according to the Jiangnan Evening News.
Different from common brochures, To Know Wuxi from Ten Characters presents the city with stories on the basis of ten Chinese characters – 無 (wú, nothing), 錫 (xī, tin), 山 (shān, mountain), 水 (shuǐ, water), 米 (mǐ, rice), 泥 (ní, clay), 園 (yuán, garden), 愛 (ài, love), 福 (fú, fortune), 甜 (tián, sweet), which are entwined with Wuxi, to arouse readers' interest.
The stories, about the city's history, culture, landscapes, customs, and specialties, are short but easy to understand with illustrations.
Interactive content, such as paper-cutting and colored drawings, is another highlight of the book. Foreign readers can DIY the Chinese traditional handicrafts.
