Updated: 2014-04-11

According to the Finance Department of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, it has pre-subsidized 525 million yuan ($87.5 million) for the New Rural Cooperative Medical System in its cities and prefectures this year, nmg.xinhuanet.com reported on April 8.

The subsidy standard for the new rural cooperative medical system in Inner Mongolia increased from 280 yuan per capita per year in 2013 to 320 yuan in 2014.

In addition to the subsidies from central finance, lower-level finance departments in Inner Mongolia will subsidize 100 yuan for every person per year, including a subsidy of 50 yuan from the autonomous regional finance.

Meanwhile, the autonomous regional government will offer 20 yuan ($3.30) more per capita per year to people in pastoral counties and banners with a population of less than 60,000.

The New Rural Cooperative Medical System has been an important reform in the medical system of rural areas since the reform and opening up, aimed at meeting the basic medical needs of rural residents.
