Noted Hong Kong-based scholar Jao Tsung-i (Rao Zongyi), 100, was named after Zhou Dunyi, an 11th-century philosopher, by his father who hoped that he could be someday as learned as Zhou.

And like Zhou, Jao favors the lotus. They are the main subject of his paintings, poems and calligraphic works.

Dozens of Jao's artworks based on lotus are on show at a solo exhibition, titled Glamour of Lotus Flowers, being held at Beijing's National Art Museum of China through Sunday.

These creations show Jao's literary and artistic work over the decades.

Jao has donated several of the works at the exhibition to the National Art Museum of China.
