Accompanied by the beat of drums, a Taige parade was staged at Jialu village in Wuyuan of Jiangxi province. Villagers set off firecrackers in front of their houses, to celebrate the harvest, and pray for safety and luck.

Taige, a folk dance that originated in Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), is performed with boys and girls in costumes standing high on plank platforms and other people carrying poles below parading on the streets. The teenagers are always dressed up as characters from historical stories or legends. Fusing painting, opera, paper sculpture and acrobatics, Taige was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
