Founded in 2006 in Andong of South Korea, the IMACO now has 56 member countries. The organization is dedicated to collect, protect, display and study masks and mask art.

Experts say that China is a country with a rich tradition in the art of mask-making, as China has Peking opera mask, Sichuan opera mask, as well as masks used in Nuo dance and other local folk art performances. The potential of China's creative cultural mask-making industry needs to be tapped further.
