Today marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the magazine La Jeunesse ( New Youth) by Chen Duxiu. Chen's former residence in Beijing, which was also the former site of La Jeunesse's editorial office, was completed Tuesday after years of renovation.

Chen was a leading figure in the May Fourth Movement, an important cultural and political movement in modern Chinese history that fought imperialism and promoted democracy and science. He was a founding member of the Chinese Communist Party and an educator and philosopher. In 1915, Chen established the vernacular Chinese periodical La Jeunesse, a Chinese magazine that influenced youth ideology in the 1910s and 1920s.

Located in No. 20, Jiangan Hutong, Beichizi Main Street, Dongcheng District, Chen's former home covers about 250 square meters. The courtyard's gate opens to the north, and two bluestone stones with carved lions stand on the two sides.
