50 of China's 100 most wanted fugitives captured

Xinhua | Updated: 2017-12-05 14:18

BEIJING -- China's top anti-corruption authority on Tuesday announced the capture of a "red notice" fugitive suspected of business fraud who had fled China since 2008.

Zhou Jiyang, a former Party official in east China's Zhejiang Province, was the 50th returned fugitive from China's 100 most wanted list, according to the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

In April 2015, Interpol's National Central Bureau of China released a list of 100 fugitives suspected of involvement in corruption, all of whom are on Interpol's red notice for international arrest.

Many of the fugitives were former government staff or employees of state-owned enterprises.

The progress in the manhunt has demonstrated China's determination and confidence in fighting corruption, said the CCDI, adding the remaining fugitives will be returned to China and brought to justice.
