How luggage has transformed through the years during Spring Festival
A photo taken on Jan 14, 2006, shows a man and a woman shouldering a pole together with household items hanging from it on their way to the train station in Nanjing. In previous years, many Chinese, especially those from rural areas, usually take everything with them during the travel rush, as these things they possess in big cities can also support their families in their hometowns. Editor's note: As the world's largest annual human migration, the travel rush during Spring Festival, always gives us striking scenes of swarms of people sardine-packed at train stations across the country. With different destinations, they carry all sorts of luggage; from huge and heavy nylon bags to light and smart suitcases, the "sweet burden" does not only function as a practical travel necessity, but also reflects how modern China has changed over the past decade.
