By Wang Hongyi | China Daily | Updated: 2016-11-24 08:17

A large-scale stem cell treatment hospital in Hainan province is expected to open its doors in early 2017.

It will not only provide advanced stem cell treatment for patients but also drive the development of stem cell industries across the country.

As a medical tourism project, the hospital is located in the international medical tourism area in Bo'ao, Hainan province.

It was established by the China Stem Cell Group, which is located at Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone in Shanghai.

So far, the construction of the hospital's main body has been completed.

According to the plan, the hospital will officially be put into use at the beginning of next year.

Covering an area of 2.67 hectares mu the hospital will have around 100 Class 100 laminar flow wards, and it will be able to perform more than 1,000 stem cell transplants each year.

The hospital will also work to meet the standards set by the Joint Commission International, the world's leading evaluation organization, for international accreditation of medical management and healthcare services.

The hospital project will become one of the largest stem cell hospitals with the most advanced stem cell technology in the country.

It will be committed to leading and promoting the comprehensive development of China's stem cell industry, the group said. According to the country's science and technology innovation plan during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), China will support the development and application of a series of biotechnological and biopharmaceutical fields, such as synthetic biology, regenerative medical technology and precision medicine.

With well-developed stem cell technology and rich management experience, China Stem Cell Group will spare no effort in promoting the research and development of stem cell treatment technology, the group said.
