BBC: Urumqi attack: 'What is happening to this world?'

(Agencies) Updated: 2014-06-06 14:37

Millions of people around China have read a manual about how to survive a terrorist attack, after 31 people were killed in an attack on a street market in Urumqi, capital of China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on May 22, BBC reported.

The manual entitled "How to survive a terrorist threat" appeared online hours after the incident. In less than 24 hours, the manual was viewed about 7.4 million times, the report said.

"Don't stand and watch," the manual warned.

"If you cannot escape, hide behind an object. Try not to yell or scream. Do not aggravate the terrorists. If you spot any unidentified liquids - duck, with your mouth and nose covered."

Violent attacks targeting Chinese civilians have become increasingly frequent in the past year.
