Wang Dawei, who runs a shop selling youtiao, deep-fried dough sticks that are a popular breakfast snack for Chinese, has earned himself the nickname of "youtiao brother" as he is offering a 100,000 yuan ($16,112) reward to anyone that can prove the youtiao he sells are not aluminum-free.

Wang is calling on people from all over the country to come to his shop in Weifang in East China's Shandong province to test the amount of aluminum in his youtiao. If the amount exceeds standards, he will not only reimburse their travel expenses but also give an award of 100,000 yuan.

Numerous customers arrived after hearing such an appealing offer but left disappointed. Using a unique technique, Wang's youtiao only contain 0.7 milligram of aluminum per kilogram. This not only reaches the international standard of 100 milligram per kilogram, but is also lower than the ceiling of 10 milligram per kilogram for fried food issued by the European Union.

"I only cook aluminum-free youtiao. Even pregnant women can eat them reassured. I promise you that if you find one youtiao that is unqualified, I will reward you with 100,000 yuan," Wang said proudly.
