It has a history of thousands of years and is regarded as one of the three most time-honored wines in the world.
The onset of winter also marks the start of the best brewing time for the yellow rice wine. The process lasts until spring and is known as winter brewing.
The mark the occasion, Guyuelongshan, a leading brewery of the wine, held a traditional ceremony in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province on Nov 7, this year's Winter Solistic in the Chinese lunar calendar.
The technique of brewing Shaoxing yellow rice wine was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2006.
