Beijing - Chinese President Hu Jintao said on Friday that China is ready to work with all relevant parties to push for new progress in international anti-terrorism cooperation.
Hu made the remarks in a written interview with reporters from Kazakhstan and Russia on the eve of his upcoming visit to Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine from June 12 to 20.
Hu said that with the joint efforts of the international community, progress had been made in international anti-terrorism efforts.
"But at the same time, we should see that the international anti-terrorism situation is still severe, and some terrorist organizations are still active," said Hu, adding there is still a long way to go in the fight against terrorism.
"The international community should follow the guidance of the Charter of the United Nations and other recognized international laws and rules, strengthen cooperation and fight against terrorism together," said Hu.
He added that China is willing to, in the light of the principles of equal cooperation and mutual benefit, work with all relevant parties to push new advancement in international anti-terrorism cooperation, so as to safeguard regional and world peace and stability.
While the international security situation remains generally stable, other factors are cause for concern, Hu said. The political instability and chaos in some West Asia and North Africa countries has brought complex and profound impact to regional stability. Threats and challenges such as climate change, environmental deterioration, energy resources safety, severe epidemic diseases and major natural disasters are increasing.
Under the new situation, "We should work together to seek common development and make unremitting efforts to build a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity," Hu said.
Hu said that China's peaceful development has made impressive progress in the past 30 years thanks to its reform and opening up policy, and its international status is growing day by day.
"But China is still a developing country. China has not reached the level of developed countries judging from social productivity, scientific innovation and standard of living," said Hu.
Hu stressed that China is firmly committed to the path of peaceful development.
"China will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development and cooperation, always pursue an independent foreign policy of peace and develop friendly relations with countries worldwide in the context of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence," said Hu.
Hu said China advocates a new security concept featuring mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and coordination, and pursues a defensive defense policy.
China will never seek hegemony and never go in for expansion, Hu said.
As for the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, he hailed the remarkable achievements of the CPC, saying that the 90-year history of the CPC is a period during which the CPC has fought for the national independence, people's liberation, country's prosperity and people's welfare.
He pledged that the CPC will sum up experiences, stick to the purpose of serving the people with heart and soul, hold to scientific development, and lead the Chinese people to push the reform and opening-up as well as modernizing construction.
