CPC congress establishes historical position of Xi's thought: resolution
BEIJING?—?The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China establishes the historical position of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, according to a resolution approved by the congress Tuesday.
"This Thought must be adhered to and steadily developed on a long-term basis," the resolution said.
The resolution called the Thought "an important component of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and a guide to action for all our members and all the Chinese people as we strive to achieve national rejuvenation."
The congress forms the major political judgments that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era and the principal contradiction in Chinese society has evolved into one between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life, said the resolution.
The 19th CPC National Congress approved the report delivered by Xi on behalf of the Party's 18th Central Committee, said the resolution.
An "impressive blueprint" has been sketched out by the report for "securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and striving for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, thus charting the course for continued progress in the cause of the Party and the country," said the resolution.
The resolution called the report "a political declaration and a program of action for the Party to unite the Chinese people and lead them in upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era," and "a guiding Marxist document."
