ACCRA - China's leading telecom conglomerate Huawei Technologies has continued to break new ground in the West African information technology (IT) market as major IT firms in the area continue to depend on the technologies offered by the Chinese firm for their activities.

Earlier this month, Huawei named a Ghanaian IT company, Intercom Programming & Manufacturing Co Ltd (IPMC), their new technology solutions partner for West Africa, in particular Ghana, the company said in a release Friday.

Top executives of the two companies signed a strategic partnership agreement in China which will enable IPMC to use various Huawei technologies for software development in some of its West African contracts.

Speaking at the event, Wan Zheng, vice-president of Huawei, acknowledged IPMC's leadership in West Africa and the company's contribution to the information communication technology (ICT) development in the area.

IPMC is using Huawei devices such as W1 windows phone as part of their mobile based unified communication Microsoft Lync solution, said Wan.

Wan said the Huawei technical training center is working on details to promote mobile apps development within the student body of IPMC.

Amar Deep Hari, CEO of IPMC, reiterated his commitment to the continuing acceptability of Huawei products in West Africa, especially on the Ghanaian market.

He appreciated the fact that, from its humble beginnings, Huawei, in the competitive environment, had turned itself into a global leader of ICT and telecom solutions.

The Ghanaian beauty queen, who was the second runner-up for Miss World 2013, Carranzar Naa Okaikey Shooter, had been signed on by IPMC Ghana to promote Huawei phones, he said.
