China's economic development in 2013-- The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar appreciated by 3.09 percent over the year to 6.0969 at the end of 2013.

-- Population on the Chinese mainland stood at 1.36 billion people by the end of the year, up 6.68 million year-on-year.

-- Urban population reached 731.11 million, accounting for 53.73 percent of the total population.

-- The number of rural migrant workers increased 2.4 percent to 268.94 million by the end of last year, accounting for 19.76 percent of the country's total population.

-- By the end of 2013, 769.77 million people were employed in China, including 382.4 million people employed in cities.

-- A total of 13.1 million new jobs were created in cities. The registered urban unemployment rate stood at 4.05 percent at the end of the year.

-- Per capita disposable income of urban residents expanded 7 percent in real terms to 26,955 yuan.

-- Per capita net income of rural residents rose 9.3 percent in real terms to 8,896 yuan.

-- The Gini coefficient, an index reflecting the rich-poor gap, lowered to 0.473 from 0.474 in 2012, showing slight narrowing of the income disparity.
