Chinese consortium in running to build high-speed railway

A Chinese consortium led by China Railway Signal and Communication has sent a team to Singapore this morning to compete against Japanese rivals to build the Singapore-Malaysia high-speed railroad project.

CRSC vice-chairman Fu Jianguo said the company has formed a consortium with CRRC, the country's railway vehicle and equipment exporter, as well as other railway project infrastructure companies, to participate in the bid.

"Even though it will be tough to compete with Japanese companies, we have the advantage in product quality, mature operational experiences, package price, strong service and financing ability," Fu said.

The Singapore-Malaysia bullet train project will cut travel time by land between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to one hour and half, compared with more than four hours by vehicles.

The 350 kilometer high-speed rail line, first proposed in 2013, is considered a h-speed rail line, the two south-east Asian countries.

CRSC's team is led by its president Yin Gang and employs a number of experts in various fields.
