China's Huawei Honor-brandsmartphone maker has jumped onto the bandwagon of the country's high-profile "Silk Road Economic Belt" development strategy, supporting a fact-finding press corps to revisit the ancient "Silk Road" -- linking China with Central Asia and Europe.
Under the auspices of Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Internet Information Office and National Tourism Administration, the Xinhua News Agency launched the press trip in Luoyang city in central China's Henan province on June 16.
Ni Jiayue, chief of Honor's GTM Department, said that it will prove to be a valuable and worthy effort for Honor to assist Chinese journalists to visit cities like Xi'an, Lanzhou, Xining, Dunhuang, Hami, Turpan and Urumqi, as well as countries including Kazakhstan, Turkey and Italy.
"As a premium brand affiliate to Huawei Technologies, Honor will put on display the spirit of creativity, innovation and enterprise, which is fairly well embodied by people of Honor and Huawei," said Wang Xiaodong, head of Honor's Marketing Department.
According to Wang, all the reporters are armed with Honor smartphones and other advanced devices.
Wang said that Honor has kept constantly innovating and expanding to a broader market landscape of the world, boosted by series of sophisticated smartphones. To date, Honor has entered into 74 countries and regions in Asia, America, Africa and Europe. In 2014, Honor sold 20 million handsets and achieved gross sales value of $2.4 billion, growing an explosive 24 times compared with a year ago.
