Social responsibility

As started in Guangzhou, Volkswagen Group China is now doing more on a step-by- step basis to raise safety awareness among Chinese parents.

As a part of the 5,000 child safety seat donation plan, the company on Feb 26 donated 1,000 child safety seats to China Women's Development Foundations, and jointly held the China Child Road Safety Forum in Beijing.

However, what is more important than donating seats is the fact that the child safety issues demand more attention, and further road safety education is needed, according to Yu Hongqiu, a member of the foundations' council.

The proportion of parents in China using child safety seats is so low that less than one percent of children use safety seats, and number here is much lower than Europe.

But the most important thing is to raise the awareness of parents, and let the parents know that if their child is in a child seat, it is safe in a car, instead of holding the child, according to Heizmann.

Customer orientation

"Customer satisfaction is our top priority. We should never say we've done enough," said Heizmann

Volkswagen and its joint ventures, FAW-VW and Shanghai VW, last year realized a total sales volume of 3.27 million units, 16.2 percent more than that from 2012. The success in the past has forced the company to satisfy even more customer needs and wishes especially in its after sales services sector.

"We will always improve, and understand better what our customers really want and need, and what services they demand, talking about all customers no matter in which area they buy a Volkswagen Group China product, " said Heizmann.

"Our target is to be the most people oriented company in China," he said.
