China and Malaysia should push forward cooperation on major projects, such as industrial parks and railways, President Xi Jinping said on Saturday while meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Mentioning that China and Malaysia are close maritime neighbors, Xi said that the two countries are good friends and good partners with mutual trust, mutual respect and win-win cooperation.

China-Malaysia relations are in the best period of their history, Xi said, adding that China would like to draw blueprints with Malaysia to achieve more fruits of the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Xi pointed out that the leaders of China and Malaysia have strengthened communication in recent years. The two countries have proactively connected the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to Malaysia's plan of transferring economy, he added.

China is willing to enhance cooperation with Malaysia in such areas as education, culture, people-to-people and tourism, and continue to deepen cooperation in law enforcement, security and anti-terrorists, Xi said.

Malaysia is an important nation on the ancient Maritime Silk Road, and the country has supported the Belt and Road Initiative from the very beginning, Xi said. He added that Malaysia is also among the countries that have made fruitful results in the early process of jointly building the Belt and Road.

The Malaysian prime minister agreed with what Xi said. Malaysia is satisfied with the implementation of the consensus reached between the two countries, he said.

Malaysia would like to push forward the development of Malaysia-China relations to a higher level and wider range, and deepen cooperation in areas, including trade, investment, infrastructure, people-to-people, anti-terrorism and security, he said.

Malaysia would take an active part in cooperation with China to build the Belt and Road, which will bring huge changes not only for local regions, but also for the whole world, he said.
