Shanghai Museum wow visitors with Egyptian-themed New Year's Party
Visitors celebrated New Year's Eve at Shanghai Museum on People's Square, among Pharaoh statues, mummies and other artifacts from ancient Egypt.
The largest exhibition of Egyptian art in Asia, "On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt", is currently ongoing at the museum.
Shanghai Museum decided to host an Egyptian-themed New Year's Party which took place from 7 pm to midnight, and included a host of colorful events such as dance shows and gift-giving.
Visitors were encouraged to wear Egyptian-styled costumes and makeup, and join in a parade of ancient Egyptian gods at the museum. Director of the museum Chu Xiaobo handed out New Year's gifts for lucky draw winners.
Since its opening on July 18, 2024, the exhibition "On Top of the Pyramid" has received more than 1.25 million visitors. The exhibition will go on for 13 months at Shanghai Museum on People's Square until Aug 17, 2025.
