The soundtrack of Chinese musical, Yak Revolution, was released by Beijing Global Audio-Visual Publishing Company.
Composed by Qian Qi, a professor and the head of the Department of Music AI and Music Information Technology at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the musical, by director Liang Qun, premiered in June 2021 in Chengdu, Sichuan province. It portrays the story of the Red Army's collaboration with local people of Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture, in Sichuan, during the Long March (1934-36).
It reflects the Red Army's determination to uphold ethnic unity and celebrates the army's enduring faith, sacrifices, and the profound connection with the local people.
The album features 25 captivating tracks such as The Yak and the Red Army and Walking Through the Journey.
Drawing extensively from research, the compositions weave elements of Tibetan and Qiang folk songs into the melodies, resulting in a cross-cultural and genre-blending works. From evocative Tibetan dances to rousing battle songs and tender folk melodies, the album offers a deeply immersive experience. It creates a vivid auditory journey, inviting listeners to traverse the rugged landscapes and profound challenges faced by the Red Army.
