Chinese, Russian defense ministers hold talks in Beijing on Monday
Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun held talks with the visiting Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov in Beijing, the Ministry of National Defense announced on Monday evening.
Dong said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, noting that the friendship between the two nations has stood the test of time and grown stronger, according to a news release by the ministry.
Under the guidance of our two heads of state, China-Russia relations have reached an unprecedented level, characterized by high mutual trust and deep practical cooperation, serving as a model for major-country relations, he said.
The two militaries should follow the direction set by the two heads of state, deepen strategic coordination, enhance the quality and effectiveness of cooperation, and continuously advance military relations, said Dong.
He said the two militaries should firmly safeguard the common interests of both countries and jointly uphold global strategic stability.
Belousov said that Russia-China military cooperation is a vital factor in maintaining global and regional peace and stability.
