Chinese technology heavyweight Huawei Technologies Co unveiled on Tuesday its inaugural luxury sedan, Stelato S9, in Beijing, targeting the premium electric sedan market in China.

As the first jointly developed brand between Huawei and Beijing-based automaker BAIC Group, the Stelato S9 is offered in two variants, Max and Ultra, and is priced starting at 399,800 yuan ($55,960) and 449,800 yuan, respectively.

The cooperation brings together all the advantageous resources of BAIC's entire industry chain, including vehicle R&D and production, auto parts development, as well as services and trading experiences, BAIC chairman Zhang Jianyong said.

" We are all in on Stelato S9," Zhang said.

The stelato S9 joins the Aito M9 as the two flagships of Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance and is ready for sale right after being released, said Yu Chengdong, chairman of Huawei's intelligent automotive solutions business unit.

The brand is Huawei's first model to feature Advanced Driving System 3.0, an assisted driving system that aims to deliver a more facilitated and intelligent driving experience.

In addition, it is also the first to be equipped with the omnidirectional collision avoidance system CAS 3.0, offering greater flexibility for complex road conditions and enhancing driving safety, the company said.

As Huawei ramps up efforts on high-end intelligent driving solutions, its HIMA's cumulative deliveries reached 238,287 vehicles for the first seven months of this year, the company's data showed.

Specifically, models under Huawei's HIMA business have witnessed cheerful sales results, with the cumulative sales volume of the upgraded Aito the M5 now standing at 150,000 units, the M7 at 230,000 units, and M9 at 120,000 units since their launches, Yu said.
