China's domestic tourism surges in H1

The domestic tourism marked a stable growth in the first half of the year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Figures unveiled by the ministry on Friday show that in first half year of the year, the domestic tourism spots received about 2.73 billion visits, up 14.3 percent year-on-year. Among these tourism visits, about 2.09 billion were made by residents living in urban areas and 638 million by rural residents.
Travelers' expenditure on trips and tourism-related products also saw a rise during the first six months of the year. According to the ministry, the domestic travelers spent 2.73 trillion yuan ($376.4 billion) on tourism activities, increasing by 19 percent year-on-year.
