Huangyao Ancient Town Scenic Spot enjoys a perfect integration of enchanting Lingnan culture and picturesque landscapes. With an area of 3.2 square kilometers, the town was established during the Kaibao Period of the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and reached its heyday in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The town also served as the command center in Guangxi in the War of the Chinese People’s Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The ancient town is famous for its karst landscape, dragon worship culture, architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties, Guangfu folk customs and Communist revolutionary historical sites. Its beautiful scenes of small bridges over flowing streams, great ancient banyan trees, and antique streets with flagstones and couplets are noted as the "Four Wonders of Huangyao", and exemplify a perfect integration of natural and cultural landscapes. The town has also been titled a "Famous Historical and Cultural Town in China" and an "Ancient Town of Chinese Couplet Culture".
