Kunshan frisbee club fosters cross-Strait friendship among youth
The 11th Cross-Strait (Kunshan-Taiwan) Cultural Exchange Month and the "Kunshan High-Tech Cup" Cross-Strait (Kunshan) Frisbee Invitational Tournament, which took place in Kunshan, Jiangsu province on Saturday, attracted over 200 frisbee athletes from both sides of the Strait to compete together.
During the event, the "Kunshan-Taiwan Youth Sports Exchange and Cooperation Alliance" was officially established, and the city's Urban Ecological Forest Park was awarded the title of "Jiangsu-Taiwan Frisbee Exchange Demonstration Base".
Kunshan, known for its intensive investment from Taiwan, is one of the most active areas for cross-Strait exchanges.
Frisbee sports started relatively early in Taiwan, producing enthusiasts with a high level of frisbee skills.
Frisbee sports have gained popularity in Kunshan's schools, enterprises and communities and are becoming widely embraced. Kunshan has hosted over ten frisbee events, attracting over 2,000 participants.
Chen Youjie, the president of the Youth Association of the Taiwan Compatriots' Investment Enterprises Association in Kunshan, said that a frisbee club was established in the city in 2023 due to the strong interest in frisbee among young people from both sides of the Strait.
The club currently boasts more than 50 members and holds frisbee activities every Wednesday, which has fostered friendship between the young individuals.
Kunshan has long been known for its favorable business environment and has made strides to create a welcoming space for business people from Taiwan. The city has organized cultural and sports exchange events, including the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, baseball and marathons, solidifying its position as a hub for cross-Strait exchanges.
