Marco V. Balarezo, Peruvian ambassador to China.

One of the most significant aspects of the People's Republic of China is its robust institutional system, along with the government's openness through various mechanisms for gathering inputs and recommendations from experts, academics and intellectuals to help shape the country's policies.

This openness to diverse perspectives highlights its adaptability and willingness to engage with a wide array of stakeholders, while its strong institutions ensure stability, meritocracy and long-term policy perspective.

On the other hand, it will be a firsthand lesson for me to observe the functioning of one of the most important bodies of the Chinese political system during the work and debates in the two sessions. We can gain valuable insights from this aspect of China's governance with Chinese characteristics.

All the fields discussed in these important political bodies hold great relevance for the development and progress of China and its people, particularly emphasizing the application of President Xi Jinping's thought for the country to achieve high-quality development, putting at the center the new quality productive forces, establishing a modern financial system that supports the real economy, fighting corruption and consolidation of the economic opening-up.

There is also anticipation regarding announcements in the annual work report of the government regarding the policy goals for 2024, including on the economic front.

Finally, I would like to stress that both countries share common development priorities and economic complementarities. In this regard, the deepening of economic, political, cultural and social ties is key for the strengthening of our bilateral relations. It is worth highlighting that China is Peru's main export market, our second most important foreign investor, and we both are cradles of civilizations, as well as share fundamental principles in the multilateral arena.
