Xinjiang claims 11th straight win, Shenzhen snaps Zhejiang's 11-game winning streak
BEIJING -- The Xinjiang Flying Tigers clinched their 11th straight win after defeating the Zhejiang Lions 96-86, while the Shenzhen Aviators ended the 11-game winning streak of the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League on Wednesday.
Dominique Jones scored a game-high 30 points for Xinjiang. Sun Minghui had 19 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, but failed to lead the Zhejiang Lions to turn the game around.
Confronting third-ranked Zhejiang Golden Bulls, Shenzhen showed high morale and built a 14-point lead in the first quarter. Zhejiang rallied to overtake at 58-54, but Shenzhen adjusted quickly in the second half. Darius Adams contributed a decisive steal to help Shenzhen secure the 111-107 victory.
Jared Sullinger and He Xining earned 28 and 24 points respectively for Shenzhen.
Gao Shiyan of Shandong Heroes made all three free throws to tie the game against the Beijing Royal Fighters by the end of the fourth quarter. In the overtime, Beijing didn't miss the opportunity to clinch the victory 108-104.
Marshon Brooks posted 26 points as the Guangdong Southern Tigers won over the Jilin Northeast Tigers 112-102.
Elsewhere, the Shanghai Sharks beat the Fujian Sturgeons 116-106, the Qingdao Eagles crushed the Jiangsu Dragons 98-73, while the Tianjin Pioneers edged the Ningbo Rockets 99-96.
