Dutch dairy company donates to impoverished children
Royal FrieslandCampina, the largest dairy company in the Netherlands, said it plans to donate 42,000 cans of milk powder to more than 8,000 orphans and those living in impoverished conditions in China aims to help improve their nutritional status.
Together with China Foundation for Rural Development, the Dutch dairy firm held a donation ceremony in Guanling county, Guizhou province in late November.
There exists a significant urban-rural and regional difference in the nutritional status of Chinese children. Many children in impoverished conditions lack opportunities to drink milk.
As of March 2023, China had 157,000 orphans and 372,000 children whose parents don't have the ability to provide, according to data from the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Since 2019, Royal FrieslandCampina has donated over 64,000 cans of milk powder to Chinese children living in 19 provinces, helping some 11,000 children in difficult conditions.
