The Uzbek edition of Chinese President Xi Jinping's book on poverty relief was launched on Friday in Tashkent, capital city of the Central Asian nation.

Titled Up and Out of Poverty, the book contains 29 of Xi's speeches and articles, as well as photos, from 1988 to 1990 when he was the Party chief of the formerly impoverished prefecture of Ningde in Fujian province.

The Chinese edition was first published in July 1992 and reprinted in August 2014. The book has also been translated and published in English, French, Spanish, Cyrillic Mongolian, Hausa and Swahili.

In a preface written for the Uzbek edition, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said the book vividly details China's arduous journey of poverty alleviation, offering a profound summary of China's practical experience and showcasing the Chinese people's diligence. The publication in Uzbekistan will undoubtedly further consolidate the strategic cooperation between the two countries and promote people-to-people connectivity, he wrote.

After the book's launch, more than 150 guests from both countries, including politicians and representatives from the media and think tanks, also attended a seminar on the exchange of governance experience between China and Uzbekistan.

They said China's path of building the country into a great modern socialist country in all respects and advancing national rejuvenation can provide valuable inspiration for developing countries to achieve their respective modernization and improve the people's well-being.
