NGO chief impressed by China's people-centered philosophy
"The focus on people's life is one very central aspect for the Chinese government," says Michael Hermann, a German who works as the chief representative of an international network of nonprofit organizations.
"China is working a lot on improving the conditions for the vulnerable," Michael says, highlighting China's significant efforts and successes in infrastructure advancement and poverty alleviation.
With nearly two decades of working experience in Southwest China's Yunnan province, Michael is impressed by China's commitment to biodiversity preservation and carbon reduction.
He has extensively worked in Yunnan on sustainable development and inspiring young minds on climate change response over the years. His organization started the Hou Yi climate action to give young people in schools opportunity to learn about climate change and to act on it. “This action has already covered more than 800 schools with more than 200,000 participations,” he says.
