China Eastern launches direct route between Singapore and Beijing Daxing
China Eastern Airlines successfully launched flight MU5032 from Singapore Changi Airport on July 20, marking the official opening of China Eastern Airlines' direct flight route between Singapore and Beijing Daxing International Airport.
The Singapore-Beijing Daxing Airport route will operate one direct flight daily, connecting Beijing Daxing International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport, providing passengers with more convenient air travel options.
On the inaugural day, the China Eastern Airlines Singapore Branch held a ceremony to celebrate the debut flight at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
Wu Qiwei, general manager of China Eastern Airlines Singapore Branch, said at the ceremony that during the pandemic, the number of flights from Singapore to China fell from about 400 flights per week before the outbreak to only 12 flights per week. The civil aviation business between Singapore and China has endured a three-year winter. Since the beginning of this year, the number of flights between the two countries has rapidly recovered, increasing from 160 flights to nearly 1,200 flights per month, a growth of 6.5 times, from January to July. The number of flight routes has also risen from 12 to 23 within six months. The newly added Singapore- Beijing Daxing Airport route is the 24th flight route.
Around 180 guests, including representatives from the Chinese embassy in Singapore, the China Tourist Office in Singapore, Singapore Changi Airport participated in the event.
