With experience and preparation during the past 3 years, China now chooses to ease pandemic control restrictions to let people return to normality, according to Mario Cavolo, a senior fellow at the Center for China and Globalization.
Based on his 20-year life in China, Mario said that understanding the combination of the Chinese way of governance that values people's well-being and Chinese societal values with a strong sense of filial piety and family can help understand the 3-year zero-COVID policy and the recent change in China.
Cavolo highlighted the problem of the protection of the elder, whose vaccination rate is lower than the overall 90 percent, should be paid special attention to when many protective restrictions are reduced.
