Nanchong, the millennium silk city
A research tour exploring Nanchong, the millennium silk city in Sichuan, was held earlier this year with foreign students from the multiple countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and currently studying in Sichuan universities.
Nanchong city, located in the northeastern Sichuan Basin, is more than 200 kilometers away from Chengdu. It's the birthplace of the "Three Kingdoms" culture and Spring Festival culture, as well as the millennium silk city.
Liuhe Silk Expo Park is currently the only place in western China with a century-old silk manufacturing base still in use. Here, you can explore how each inconspicuous cocoon turns into magnificent silk.
Step into the Sichuan Provincial Puppet Theatre and you can get to know the development history and production techniques of northern Sichuan giant puppetry and experience their operation.
