Chongqing hotpot restaurant opens in Beijing
One of Chongqing's most popular hotpot chains, Peijie Hotpot, has opened two branches in Beijing in September, bringing authentic Chongqing-style spicy hotpot to the capital.
According to Yan Dongsheng, founder of Peijie Hotpot, the restaurant chain aims to spread the unique Chongqing style hotpot to the whole country. It has already opened around 60 branches in several cities including Chongqing, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hangzhou.
The homemade meatball is a specialty at Peijie. The meatball is made with pork leg meat which consists of 30 percent fat and 70 percent lean meat. After boiling in the spicy soup base for four minutes, the meatball is crisp and chewy.
The beef slice marinated with five different peppers is also a must-try as it brings diners a unique combined spicy flavor.
