BEIJING - China's men's 100m Asian record holder Su Bingtian is confident that he can run another sub-10 seconds race at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.

"After gaining experience as I grew, I now have better control over and take better care of my body," said Su, who twice ran 9.91s in June 2018 to equal the Asian record.

Troubled by back and hip injuries last season, Su did not compete in the 100m final at the Doha World Championships, but did help China secure a berth in the men's 4X100m relay at Tokyo 2020 after he secured a ticket for himself in the individual event. He was also appointed to the Athletes Commission of World Athletics in November 2019.

Concentrating on preparing for the Tokyo Olympics Games, he said he has fully recovered but sometimes still needs physical therapy after intensive training sessions.

"I come here every time after trainings to relax my muscles and get rid of the lactic acid. Some old joint injuries still needs ultrasound treatment," he explained.

Su will be 31 when the postponed Tokyo Games are held in 2021, but the veteran is optimistic about his performance at his third Olympics.

"Should I be able to run as I do in the trainings, running another sub-10s won't be a problem," he said.
