China's volleyball legend Lang Ping's documentary to premiere on June 7
LAUSANNE - A documentary about China's volleyball legend Lang Ping is set to premiere on June 7, according to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
Lang's remarkable journey and inspiring life are depicted in "The Iron Hammer" by director Joan Chen and presented by the Olympic Channel. The documentary will premiere on June 7, the closing day of We Are One: A global online film festival. The 99-minute film will be available on the Olympic Channel later in 2020.
Lang Ping is the first person in volleyball to win Olympic titles both as a player (1984) and as a coach (2016). Known as The Iron Hammer, she also won gold at the World Championship in 1982 and at the World Cup in 1981 and 1985 as the leading striker of the Chinese national team. Lang claimed the MVP awards at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, the 1982 World Championship and the 1985 World Cup.
As a coach, she led China to Olympic gold at Rio 2016, as well as back-to-back World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019. She was named FIVB Coach of the Year in 1996.
