A joint space effort called the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite program, the Chinese and Brazilian governments agreed to carry out in July 1988, is hailed as a model for South-South cooperation.
The Earth-observation satellite - designated CBERS-04A, the sixth satellite jointly built by China and Brazil, is scheduled to be launched at the end of this year.
Brazil is the country with the largest number of joint laboratories with China in Latin America. The two sides have jointly established agricultural laboratories, climate change and energy innovation technology centers, nano research centers, meteorological satellite joint centers, and the two countries are preparing for the construction of a biotechnology center.
